Cooling System
Are you planning on
having a passive wine cellar, in which no cooling unit is required?
Or a conditioned wine cellar in which a cooling system is required?
If you want to install a cooling system, please make sure you properly prepare
your wine cellar by following our “General Information on Building a Wine
Cellar”. To figure out the size of the cooling unit needed for your cellar,
calculate the cubic feet (L x H x W) and view our selection of cooling units.
Self contained Breezaire and Whisperkool Units are ideal if you can vent the
system into an adjacent room. These are mounted into the wall towards the
ceiling and are quite easy to install since they require no drainage or
plumbing. If you can’t vent into an adjacent room, we recommend the Breezaire
Split System, which requires a licensed AC professional to install. Please

Racking
Traditional Unfinished Redwood is commonly used for
wine cellars. We use All-Heart Redwood, top quality core of the redwood that has
a beautiful rich reddish brown tone. They are built to fully cradle your bottles
and have a hand sanded finish with beveled edges. Mahogany and Oak may also be
used but are more expensive and take longer time to produce.

Room Layout
What are the exact dimensions of the room you wish to rack? You can fax us a hand sketch drawing with all the details of your room. Please include width, ceiling height, depth of room, location of door, and any other areas we need to design the racks around. It’s fine if you are planning on insulating your room and not sure what the final dimensions will be since we can make changes after the initial drawing.
Once we receive your information, we will fax back to you a rack design for your review within 3 business days – Free of Charge. Once you approve the drawing, we will place the order and start production on your racks. Production time can take 2-4 weeks depending on size of cellar. The racks ship unassembled with directions and hardware for assembly. Rack installation can be performed by you or your contractor.
